There’s nothing quite like those first few days at home with your newborn.  The sleepy snuggles, the tiny hands and toes, the soft sounds of new life settling into your space. But amidst the joy, you're learning, adjusting, and simply trying to soak it all in. Especially if this is your first baby.

That’s why in home newborn photography is such a beautiful (and stress-free) way to capture your babies photos.

If you’re wondering whether you really need to leave the house for photos, the answer is: you absolutely don’t.

In fact, staying home might just make for the best photos of all.

You Don’t Have to Leave the House

Let’s be honest, getting out the door with a newborn can feel like a mission. There’s constant feeding, settling, nappies, packing a bag, and somehow still remembering to brush your hair. An in home session means no bags, no traffic, no rushing. I come to you, so you can stay exactly where you're most comfortable: home.

Your Home Is Part of Your Story

Your baby's first home will always hold meaning and there’s something so special about having that story captured. Whether it’s the rocking chair where you feed, the nursery you lovingly styled or your family curled up on the lounge together.

These are the details that make your photos uniquely yours.

And don’t stress, your home doesn’t need to be spotless or “magazine perfect.” I work with natural light and simple, thoughtful angles to highlight the love and connection in your space, not the laundry pile in the corner or the toys spread out on the floor in the other room.

If you are concerned about toys and loose items being everywhere for your session, the best tip I can give is the morning of, get an empty washing basket and quickly walk around the areas that you want to do your photos and anything that feels out of place, pop into the basket and then put the basket in another room to deal with later!

Everyone Is More Relaxed

At home, baby can feed when needed, settle into familiar wraps and routines, and snooze in their own bassinet. Parents get to enjoy the moment without feeling like they’re “on display,” and siblings can come and go, play with their toys and jump back in for cuddles when they’re ready.

You won't need to worry about your toddler touching something and breaking it, and if they get a little hungry then you've got your snacks ready to go.

This laid back vibe results in natural, genuine moments and that’s where the magic happens.

You’re Free to Just Be You

The best photos come from connection, not poses. These natural newborn photo sessions let you be exactly who you are.

A new mum holding her baby close, a dad softly rubbing their back, a big sibling cautiously leaning in for a kiss. These are the quiet, ordinary (yet extraordinary) moments you’ll want to remember.

It’s About Capturing a Chapter, Not Just a Photo

When you choose an in home newborn session, you’re not just getting a beautiful portrait of your baby.

You’re preserving a whole chapter of your life.

Think about it: over the next few years, your furniture will change, walls may be repainted or you'll move somewhere else, toys will be swapped out for school bags, and your family will grow and evolve. Even you , the way you hold your baby, the softness in your face, the way your partner looks at you in these early days,  that changes, too.

In home photos give you the opportunity to pause time inside the space where your story is unfolding right now.

Maybe it’s the armchair where you feed every night at 2am. The nursery you decorated and poured your heart into before you met your baby. The bed where you now cuddle together for naps.

These things might feel ordinary now, but in years to come, they’ll be precious.

You’re documenting the feel of this season, the rhythm of your days, the comfort of your home, the quiet bond between your people.

These images become more than memories.

They become a record of your family’s beginning in the space that held you all as you became a family.
